Surah Tawbah

introduction

Surah Tawbah  is the ninth chapter of the Qur’an and contains 129 verses. Unlike many other surahs, it does not begin with the phrase “Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem” (In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate). This absence is said to accentuate the serious tone and warning issued to those who violated treaties with Muslims. It discusses the value of faith, the consequences of betrayal, and the rules for conducting war.
